Periodical EBSCO Research Journal Part 3

I used EBSCO Peridocial research database

Reseaerch search statement: Internet copyright and "future" 114 hits

Popular Magazine:

File Sharing's Future After the Pirate Bay Verdict
Full Text Available By: Raphael, J. R..
PC World, Jul2009, Vol. 27 Issue 7, p13-13, 1/2p, 1 Color Photograph; (AN 41541399)

I found this article to be interesting for the future of copyright because PC World has a futuristic view of where the Internet is going. PC World is a credible source because the articles are written by some of the most intilligent computer technology minds.

Scholarly Journal:
Academic Journal

The future of copyright in the age of convergence: Is a new approach needed for the new media world?
Full Text Available By: Geach, Neal.
International Review of Law, Computers & Technology, Mar-Jul2009, Vol. 23 Issue 1/2, p131-142, 12p; DOI: 10.1080/13600860902742588; (AN 37362623)

I choose this scholarly article due to I felt I could not go wrong with an International Review of Law. I read the title and felt that it would take me towards the future of Internet copyright which is half of my research paper.

Newspaper Article:

Copyright Lawsuit Names Leading Technology Firms.
JOHN MARKOFF; MIGUEL HELFT. New York Times, 1/3/2007, p3, 0p; (AN 28165229)

I used the search function of "newspaper" on the EBSCO Database search page, I found that this function saved time of looking at pages and pages of unrelated text to look for a newspaper article. I felt any article that can make it on a page of the New York Times would deem a credable source.

I had to change my search statement right from the beginning of this assignment due to no search results in the EBSCO database. I put the word "future" in quotes trying to capture that particular word along with Internet Copyright AND "future" came back with 114 hits. I utilized the newspaper search only function and found that helped alot with showing me newspaper only articles. I found this assignment very useful when searching peridocials.

  1. Lisa;

I'm glad you found it helpful. You don't need quotes around one word, that is really for keeping a phrase together. Did you find a lot of different articles when you searched Internet and copyright and future versus Internet copyright and future? I think linking with and is most helpful in this case. Also, did you run across any synonyms for copyright online? Intellectual property is somewhat related.

Also, it doesn't appear that you read the scholarly journal article which was part of the assignment, providing an annotation of the article contents. You did mention some criteria for verifying it is scholarly.

    Thanks for your efforts,
    Andrea
